Below, we’re breaking down the design process behind Vogt’s products, from conception to execution. We spoke with Reka, Co-Founder and Head of Marketing at Vogt as well as Shannon Woo, Vogt’s Product Specialist, to see what they had to say. 

Q: How long does it take from the initial idea of a product to final availability?

A:  Two years - give or take.

This might seem like a long time, but there are six classic stages of product development that require time and care. 

Idea generation, when the creative concept is brainstormed, leads into prototyping, where a visual representation is constructed. From there, the initial design is crafted from a mockup. Then, validation and testing the development strategy is underway. The final stage of product development is commercialization, in which the product is fully developed and implemented.

With Vogt’s commitment to top-of-the-line construction, the amount of time that it takes to deliver a high-calibre product ensures its quality and longevity. 

Q: Which collection is your favourite and why?

A: All [of] our collections inspire us in different ways, and this is the thought that goes into the development of each line. 

However, if I had to choose one, I would choose Mond. It is such a versatile line to me, it can be very strong in impression but you can also make it very soft by changing the style of spout, handles and finish [or] colour insert.

The Mond Collection is tailored to your personal style, crafted with ethereal elegance for sophisticated simplicity. 

The Mond Collection includes three kitchen faucet designs, three handle options and two lavatory faucet designs that come in a range of finishes, from chrome to matte black and gold. The collection’s six base finishes include chrome, matte black, brushed gold, matte white, stainless steel and gunmetal, for a luxurious variety.

Q: Who comes up with the inspiration and designs for the collections?

A: We have a team dedicated to seeking out the latest innovations and design trends who put their ears not only to the design world but our everyday users, individuals that work and own homes. 

We allow an open dialogue for anyone to bring a new idea to the table. So to answer your questions, there is no main lead.

Q: What is the recipe for success when it comes to designing bathroom fixtures? Kitchen fixtures?

A: Three things. 

Practicality, quality and aesthetically appealing. 

We add these three ingredients into every collection we produce, which is why we are so proud to stand behind our product.
